🌱 Council Votes 6-3 To Settle + SD Scooter Rules + Pet Fees Waived

Good morning, hello! I’m back with your new copy of the San Diego Daily. Here are all the most important things to know about what’s happening locally.

First, today’s weather:

Clouds giving way to some sun. High: 75, Low: 66.

πŸ“’ I’m looking for business owners and marketers in San Diego who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our San Diego Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that’s you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top stories today in San Diego:

  1. The building is uninhabitable due to asbestos. However, the San Diego City Council, voting 6-3, approved a settlement on 101 Ash St. and Civic Center Plaza. “This was not a decision my administration took lightly, but we came to this resolution after years of audits, and investigations made it very clear that continuing litigation could never result in a perfect outcome for the City or its taxpayer,” Mayor Todd Gloria said . “This settlement was the product of 18 months of mediation that enables us to fully exit an unfortunate business deal and gives us the certainty we need to plan the future of our Downtown Civic Core.” San Diegans will be paying for this building for many years to come. 2. New rules for motorized scooters and e-bikes go into effect today in the City of San Diego. β€œSafety is the foundation of our shared e-scooter program in San Diego, and we are constantly working with the city and with the community to make improvements as needed,” said Justin Ireland, operations manager for Lime in a statement to NBC 7. “We communicate with our riders nonstop about where riding is and is not allowed, and how to obey the rules of the road.” However, many residents are concerned about accidents caused by those riders who ignore the rules. 3. Good news, San Diego! Fees are being waived for the adoption of all animals through the end of July. So, now is the best time to give fur-babies their forever homes. “Our hope is to find all of these deserving pets a home,” said Humane Society Chief Operating Officer Jessica Des Lauriers. The San Diego Humane Society is open for walk-in adoptions, 10 am – 5 pm, Tuesday – Sunday, at its campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, and San Diego.
