There are lots of great events happening in Durham this weekend; here are a few to check out.

Pickering Food Truck Festival

Aug. 5 to 7

1 The Esplanade, Pickering

More than two dozen food trucks are expected to be at the festival, including Buster’s Sea Cove, Meltdown Cheesery, Donia’s Donair, Feed the Six, Mustache Burger, The Cuban King, The Arepa Republic and Pharoah’s Kitchen Egyptian Street Food. There will also be a children’s village, beer garden and live entertainment stage. Admission is free. The festival runs from 5 to 9 pm on Friday, 12 to 9 pm Saturday and 12 to 8 pm Sunday. Port Perry Craft Beer Festival

Aug. 5 from 5 to 11 pm and Aug. 6 from 1 to 5 pm and 6 to 11 pm

Palmer Park, 175 Water St., Port Perry

The Port Perry Craft Beer Festival returns with a chance to sample craft brews and ciders from more than a dozen brewers and distillers while enjoying food from local restaurants and live entertainment. Orono Antique Street Festival

Aug. 6 from 10 am to 4 pm

Main Street, Orono

The 13th annual Orono Antique Street Festival will feature more than 25 dealers displaying antiques and collectibles on Main Street in Orono. The festival runs rain or shine and will include a barbecue and live music all day. The Orono Antique Market and Main Thru Church Antiques will also be offering in-store specials.

Purplestock Festival

Aug. 6 from 2 to 10 pm

2685 Shirley Rd., Blackstock

The Purplestock Festival at Souls Path includes music, dancing, wellness workshops, spa services, a kids zone, local artisan vendors and an open mic campfire. The opening ceremony starts at 2 pm Tickets are $44 per person and $17 for children, kids under three are free. There is also an option to camp overnight. Visit for tickets and more information.

Pingles Farm Sunflower Experience

Aug. 5 to 7

1805 Taunton Rd., Hampton

The annual Sunflower Experience at Pingles Farm Market opens this weekend. The 6.5-acre sunflower field includes more than 100,000 sunflowers. In addition to classic yellow sunflowers, Pingles has more than 20 other varieties as well as a new section of the field dedicated to wildflowers. Activities include picking your own sunflowers, food stations, a bar and live music. Visit for tickets and information.

Sunflowers at Bragg Farms

Seven days a week from 10 am until sunset

3048 Concession Road 3, Bowmanville

The sunflower fields at Bragg Farms in Bowmanville are in bloom open to the public — the fields are open from 10 am until sunset seven days a week during the bloom, which is expected to last until the weekend of Aug. 20. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages three to 12.
